RBC Emerging Artists Program
Applications open TBD, applications close December 31, 2020
With the generous support of the RBC Foundation, Canadian Stage offers development support, mentorship, networking opportunities, and professional resources to our city's emerging arts creators. Canadian Stage supports artists, collectives and companies who are creating contemporary performance works in theatre, dance, and hybrid forms. The RBC Emerging Artist Program encourages emerging artists to deeply engage with their own creative processes in a supportive and rigorous environment. The 20.21 program will focus on collective and collaborative creation processes. This year, Canadian Stage will invite one Toronto-based collective to work towards developing a specific project.
The focus for the 2019.20 season's program is on collaborative creation processes. In this time of social distancing, how can artists foster healthy creative collaborations and challenge themselves to create dynamic and rigorous artistic projects. This year’s program will allow participants to explore the dynamics, issues, and opportunities that emerge within creative processes that involve collective collaboration.
The RBC Emerging Artists Program has an annual intake of 3 arts creators, companies and or collectives, selected through a submission call at the end of each summer.
Canadian Stage encourages submissions from all individuals. We are committed to the practice of inclusion and diversification. We will make every effort to identify and remove any barriers to inclusion within all aspects of the selection process by making decisions and communicating without regard to ethnicity, age, gender identity or expression, colour, disability, national origin, family or marital status, language, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, or any other characteristics that make our communities and individuals unique.
