ABOUT THE POSITION
The Development Coordinator provides vital support and coordination to the Development team
and activities.
The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage many diverse projects. The Development Coordinator will have exposure and participation across the full range of the fundraising spectrum – including individual giving, corporate sponsorship, partnership, events, and more. The individual will collaborate with peers across the organization, including marketing, production, and finance / admin.
This is an excellent position for someone pursuing a career in the fundraising side of the non profit cultural sector and is interested in learning and developing practical skills. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and competencies. This is a permanent, full-time position with the option to work remotely for up to two to three days per week, depending on the needs and priorities of the organization. Flexibility is essential, as Canadian Stage is a theatre organization with a dynamic schedule that includes evening and occasional weekend events. The successful candidate will be expected to attend key performances, events, and activities as required to support the organization’s work and engagement with artists, audiences, and stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process gifts and pledges into Tessitura, the company’s Customer Relationship Management System
- Produce and send tax receipts to donors
- Book tickets for board members, donors and VIP guests as needed
- Update digital donor files
- Generate reports from Tessitura and keep donor accounts up to date
- Assist with the production of direct mail and email campaigns and stewardship
communications - Proofing and editing fundraising materials where applicable
- Provide support for fundraising and stewardship events as needed
- Conduct prospect research and prepare briefing materials for events
- Set up, coordinate and traffic projects and deadlines in Asana
- Support the development team with budget management and invoice processing
- Act as the point of contact for the department when assisting other teams with development needs
- Support the development team with additional duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- You might have a post-secondary education (perhaps in fundraising, arts and/or business) or have at least 1-2 years of experience working in a professional environment
- You have strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail, and an appreciation for
concise and clear communications - You have a knack for identifying and prioritizing items requiring immediate action, and for
preparing pertinent information in ways that facilitate decision-making - You have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and inclusion
- You maintain diplomacy and confidentiality while being able to handle emergencies and situations professionally and calmly
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with Tessitura and Wordfly is an asset
- Asana or similar project management software experience is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
