Meet Elizabeth, the frail but stubborn matriarch hosting dinner for her three children—James, Melissa, and ne’er-do-well Danny—and her two grandchildren, teen Tyler and young Olivia, whose unsettling presence permeates the story.

In the blistering Public Enemy, directed by Artistic Director Brendan Healy in its English Canadian premiere, the always subversive Siminovitch Prize-winner Olivier Choinière invites you to a family dinner unlike any you’ve attended before—a familiar setting with a surreal twist. Rapid-fire dialogue is painstakingly choreographed, as we chart through moments that are both eerily recognizable and piercingly insightful.

“Choinière has a gift for putting a finger on the pulse of our society that is both powerful and sublime.”
